Bridal hair and makeup account for a significant part of today's beauty industry. Stylists and makeup artists create elegant, formal hair designs and flawless makeup looks for the bride, members of the bridal party, and family of the bride and groom. Timing, efficiency, and professional skills are also important elements for a stylist in this growing field, not to mention how fun and meaningful it is to be a critical part of such a special day of the bride's life!

Future Stylists honed these skills when styling models for a bridal-themed photo shoot that will appear in the Observer. Models were styled at International Institute of Cosmetology's Plainville student salon, and the shoot took place upstairs in the Makeup Academy.

IIC is excited to offer the new Airbrush Contouring Class. The world of makeup artistry is larger than ever, and this intermediate course will provide you with the skills necessary for the in-demand finesse of contouring, design, and more with airbrush makeup. Students will receive included TEMPTU tool kit and a certificate after successful completion of the one day class. This class will provide makeup artists with the tools to enhance clients' facial structure with a flawless finish. Contouring and highlighting are especially sought-after by today's bridal and special event makeup clients.

The International Institute of Cosmetology is a TEMPTU makeup partner school. Our airbrush class was developed by Bobby Blumenthal and Teena Gugliotti.

Class Covers:

• Use stencils to create body and face art
• Eye shadowing, lip, and blush application
• Brow techniques
• Proper Contouring
• Highlighting

Requirements:
Prior experience, airbrush and compressor are required.

From classic to edgy, IIC's student salons in Plainville and Wethersfield perform a variety of diverse services each day. Future stylists take on of-the-moment trends and know how important it is to stay current in the ever-changing beauty industry. Aside from completing required rubrics and assessments, students prepare for the requests that scheduled or walk-in clients may come into the student salon with. Students sharpen their skills on client consultations and are ready to deliver the client's desired results based off a description or photo that a client may come prepared with.

Future stylists report that this season reds, rich, chocolate tones for fall, and hard part haircuts for men have been popular requests. Clients have enjoyed using Olaplex as a treatment in conjunction with coloring services to preserve and improve their hair's health and shine. International Institute of Cosmetology is a Wella Signature school and delivers vibrant color to clients using the Wella color system.

IIC's annual graduation show may not be until late October, but students, staff, and International Guest Artists are already making preparations and bringing their designs to life.

Graduation is not only a formal ceremony with awards and guest speakers, but also an elaborate production where current and future stylists' imaginations come to life on the runway. Future stylists at IIC's campuses in Plainville and Wethersfield have been spending Thursdays working on designs for the masquerade-themed graduation.

The usual buzz and excitement is further propelled by the recent announcement that world-renowned stylist and TV personality Tabatha Coffey will be a guest speaker at this October's graduation.

Congratulations to IIC Plainville's July student of the month, Danielle.

Danielle was honored with a certificate for her accomplishments and her name will join the plaque recognizing past students of the month. In addition to the credits Danielle received that can be used toward products and service, and the release from sanitation duties for the month, Danielle says that the best part of being the student of the month is being recognized for her effort.

International Institute of Cosmetology first caught Danielle's eye when she came in for a campus visit to get more information on the program. "It seemed very clean, welcoming, and professional," Danielle recalled. Danielle's favorite services to perform are color and she loves helping clients who are looking for a transformation. She credits both personal and team effort and having a positive attitude as the factors that have helped her to grow personally and accomplish this particular achievement. IIC's Assistant Director of Education, Angela, shares, "Danielle shows maturity, respect, willingness to help all the time, and most importantly, a passion to learn".
