International Institute of Cosmetology Students Compete and Win
As far as creativity
goes, there are no rules. These were the artistic guidelines set forth by Pivot
Point International for the 2015 Funk Up
Your Head Student Mannequin Design Contest. Funk Up Your Head is a global
creative hair design competition for Pivot Point apprentices and students to
display and share their creativity across the globe.
Students were able to
submit their entries by posting photos of their mannequin through the
competition website. Funk Up Your Head is a two part regional and international
competition. Each Country’s first prize winner will move on to the
international round. Each participating country will have a panel of judges who
will select 3 winners.
The International
Institute of Cosmetology with campuses in Plainville, CT and Wethersfield, CT
had 3 students submit entries and all 3 placed in the regional round and one of
three students won 1st place and will move forward to the
International round. Natasha Galarza won 1st place for her Green Ivy design and will move on to the
international round, Alexis Forstell tied in 7th place for her
submission when love lies and
Samantha Fabretti placed as a Fan Favorite for her peacock entry.
"It was a new and exciting experience to participate in the pivot
point competition and I am honored to have been awarded with the Fan Favorite
prize. Being recognized by your peers is a great feeling", said Samantha
Fabretti of New Britain. Samantha is a recent graduate of the International
Institute of Cosmetology’s Wethersfield Campus.
The
school’s international focus and Pivot Point teaching methodologies train
hairstylists and aestheticians in the latest trends and techniques while
motivating them to persevere in this great industry. For more information on
